DTC P010D00 – Mass Or Volume Air Flow “B” Circuit High Input
DTC P010D00 – Mass or Volume Air Flow “B” Circuit High Input.
P010D00 — MAF Sensor “B” Circuit High Input
This code means the ECM is seeing a higher-than-expected voltage from the MAF Sensor B (usually the second MAF on dual-intake engines or a secondary signal on some turbo engines).
High input = voltage too high, usually > 4.5V.
✅ Common Causes
Sensor-related
Contaminated MAF sensor (oil, dust, moisture)
Faulty MAF sensor “B”
Wrong type of aftermarket MAF installed
Electrical
5V reference shorted to signal wire
Signal wire shorted to power supply
Open ground wire → voltage rises
Corroded or damaged connector pins
Poor connector fit (loose terminal tension)
Air intake
Severe intake leak after MAF
Clogged air filter causing abnormal airflow reading
Engine issues
Overboost condition causing abnormal mass flow
PCV system leaks or stuck valve
🔧 Step-by-Step Diagnosis (Workshop Method)
1. Check Live Data (Scan Tool)
Look at:
MAF B g/s or kg/h
MAF B voltage
Normal at idle (varies by engine):
Voltage: 0.8–1.2V
Flow: 2–6 g/s (petrol), 5–12 g/s (diesel)
If voltage is stuck high (4.5–5V) → electrical fault or bad sensor.
2. Inspect Air Intake System
Check air filter for blockage.
Check ducting for cracks, loose clamps.
Ensure no aftermarket oiled filters contaminating the MAF.
If dirty, clean the sensor using MAF Cleaner only (no carb/brake cleaner).
3. Inspect Connector & Wiring
Look for:
Oil contamination
Broken wires
Green corrosion inside pins
Loose terminals
Pin Testing (Typical 5-wire MAF)
Pin Expected Reading
5V ref 4.8–5.0V
Ground <0.1V drop
Signal 0.5–1.5V idle
Temp signal 1–4V
12V supply (some types) 11–14V
If signal = 5V constant
→ Short to 5V reference
→ Open ground
→ Sensor internal fault
4. Perform Wiggle Test
With engine idling, gently move:
Harness
MAF connector
Intake pipe
If MAF voltage spikes → wiring issue.
5. Check for Intake/Vacuum Leaks
Use:
Smoke machine
or
Carb cleaner around intake pipe seams
Leaks after the MAF cause the PCM to miscalculate airflow.
6. Swap Test (If vehicle has dual MAF)
Swap MAF A ↔ MAF B.
If code changes from P010D00 → P010C / P010A / P010B, then: → Faulty MAF sensor B
7. Check Engine for Overboost (Turbo Vehicles)
Overboost can cause abnormal air mass readings.
Check:
Boost control solenoid
Wastegate function
Stuck VGT vanes
